Steps and explanations

01Open Tracing on an existing chat

Open a completed conversation and select Tracing. It connects visible messages and tool records so you can review the actions that were recorded.

Try it · Select Tracing in the chat header.

02Narrow the query range

Narrow the range to the second query. You can also use the query rail, with Shift-click selecting a contiguous range.

Try it · Set both From and To to Q2.

03Inspect files and actions

Select a file in Workspace map to inspect recorded reads or writes. A touched path does not mean the whole file was read or understood.

Try it · Select handbook.md to inspect its action details.

04Switch to execution order

Switch to Execution order to review questions, tools, and responses. Open a tool record and compare its input with the recorded result.

Try it · Select Execution order and open the read-tool record.

05Step through without rerunning

Play the trace, then pause and step forward. Playback highlights recorded actions without rerunning tools, and its timing does not represent actual execution duration.

Try it · Select Play, Pause, and Next step.

06Zoom and open a related file

Pan and zoom with the wheel or buttons, then fit the canvas. Use a file node’s open button to inspect its contents in the file panel.

Try it · Zoom to the file node and select Open in file panel.

07Read coverage cautiously

The ten cells approximate recorded positions against the current file length. Grey may mean unknown position or no recorded touch in the selected range.

Try it · Open the coverage help and inspect the position and grey-area notes.

08Ask the next evidence-based question

Compare adjacent queries, then return to chat. Ask about visible gaps without treating the trace as a complete audit or a view into internal reasoning.

Try it · Select Q2 through Q3, inspect the records, and return to the conversation.

What you will learn

Replay a query range, open related files, and interpret the trace without treating it as a complete audit.

Before you start

  • You have an admin conversation with recorded tool activity.
