Rules, memory, and Soul
Put preferences, working instructions, and history access in the right place.
Steps and explanations
01Start with stable preferences
Open Rules & memory. Add stable response preferences under My Personal Rules, then save them before testing.
Try it · Open My Personal Rules, enter the rule, and select Save.
02Review what the Agent remembers
Switch to Agent Memory and correct outdated information. Save the lock state too; locking only takes effect after you save.
Try it · Correct the sample preference, enable the lock, then select Save.
03Reveal the advanced controls
For deeper changes, enable the advanced tabs in General settings. These switches reveal controls; they do not grant tool permissions.
Try it · Enable Operation Rules and Memory & Soul.
04Save your working method
Open Operation Rules, edit the System Prompt, and save. Capability prompts describe behavior; the selected engine still determines which tools are available.
Try it · Add a source-checking rule and save a version.
05Separate notes from chat history
Memory Subagent writes lets the DeepAgents memory assistant maintain Soul notes. Conversation history remains read-only; it cannot rewrite past chats.
Try it · Read the write permission and read-only history notice before enabling it.
06Grant Service record access separately
Enable Service records to let all three admin chat engines read your Services’ records. This read access does not expose records to consumers.
Try it · Enable Service records and review the supported admin engines.
07Check the Service’s selected rules
Admin settings are not the Service configuration. Select Prompt and Profile versions in the Service; admin long-term memory is not automatically included.
Try it · Edit the Service and inspect both rule versions.
08Verify with one small request
Start a new admin conversation to test the revised rules. Existing CLI chats may retain earlier instructions. Check the result before choosing those versions for a Service.
Try it · Start a new admin chat and ask the same question again.
What you will learn
Save rules, lock memory, and distinguish admin access from Service access.
Before you start
- You have an admin conversation.
